Tbilisi State University students visited Ambassadori Island Batumi as part of a research project

As part of a research project, students from the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences of Tbilisi State University had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the construction and land development processes of two artificial peninsulas and the artificial island of “Ambassadori Island Batumi.” The project leaders hosted a group of 15 TSU students along with their mentors, providing them with an on-site overview of the ongoing works and formally introducing the students to the project
TSU research project is headed by doctoral student Irma Makalatia. According to her, it is planned to sign a memorandum of cooperation between TSU and "Ambassador Island Batumi", which envisages the involvement of TSU students of the relevant direction, internships and subsequent employment in the works of establishing two artificial peninsulas and an artificial island in Batumi. TSU students will have the opportunity to participate and observe the stability of the coast, sea level variability and ecology. After processing the received materials, students and professors will use the information in scientific articles, dissertations, local and international conferences.
Within the framework of the research project, the field work was mentored by Nodar Tsivtsivadze, Head of the Hydromechanics and Oceanology Laboratory of the Department of Geography of the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences of TSU.
According to the heads of the "Ambassadori Island Batumi" project, the initiative holds significant economic importance for both tourism and the wider region, positioning Batumi—and Georgia as a whole—on the emerging global investment map.
The project is being executed by the "Ambassadori Group" in collaboration with various international partners. "Ambassadori Island Batumi" envisages the creation of two artificial peninsulas and one artificial island spanning 84 hectares in the sea. All works are being carried out in full compliance with the principles of sustainable development and smart city planning.
